03/06/07 An interesting article in Roast Magazine: Bringing Value to Your Coffee. Writen by James of our Mexican Malinal coffee. It talks about the financials of producing world class sustainable coffee and the best way to help farms earn more money.

12/08/06 After evaluating a bunch of Puerto Rican coffees we finally found one worthy of offering. My current favorite coffee on our list, Puerto Rican "Hacienda Las Nubes".

03/30/2006 We have been testing a new roaster for around three months now and we couldn’t be happier with it. Now introducing the New Gene Café Innovative coffee Roaster, with a 10-12 oz batch size and the ability to do multiple batches in a day, this roaster has the largest capacity of any home roaster.
You can adjust time and temperature at any time during the roast to create your own profiles. Cleanup and chaff collection are a breeze, simply unscrew the cap on the chaff collector and dump it into the trash, and you're set to roast another batch. This roaster has the ability to roast to any degree but will smoke when roasted really dark.

Burman Price
$495.95 w/ free shipping and a pound of your choice.

03/20/2006 We have returned from our visit to Edwin and his family at Finca Vista Hermosa: Guatemala. We enjoyed our time at their Finca (plantation) and thank them for their warm hospitality. We also had the pleasure of meeting and cupping with AnaCafe, which regulates all Guatemalan coffee. They gave us the full V.I.P. treatment. We hope to have pictures and stories of our visit up on the site soon.

03/08/2006 Garry and Jon are leaving to visit Edwin and his family at Finca Vista Hermosa March 10th-19th. Several members of our family will keep Burman Coffee open during this period. Orders should be shipped on time but please be patient when needing assistance.

03/01/2006 We have just received the newest batch of Zach and Dani smokeless roasters from their plant in Wisconsin. We were also able to give it a great new price at $139.50 with a free pound of green coffee, also available as a grinder set with a five coffee sampler for $169.50.

02/08/2006 Now that the holidays are over we have devoted our time to uncovering some excellent coffees and products for you. We have a new Mexican Malinal premium peaberry. Very rich and smooth, an excellent balanced coffee. If you are not familiar with our Malinal coffee, this is a great one to try

A great Timor-Leste (formally East Timor) large PB, this a a very full rich coffee whose sweetness really comes out in a dark roast. Also new Kenyan PB, a smooth bright cup and an excellent example of a premium Kenya, also our new Triple Pick Sumatra, which has the cleanest biggest bean that I have ever seen in a Sumatra.

We have found a fun new brewing method. The Aeropress, a very cool hands-on espresso maker, similar to a French-press, it makes enough espresso for one to four shots, add a little more hot water and you have Café Americano. Relatively easy to use and clean and many think, (including Ken Davids) it makes superior espresso comparable to many expensive machines.

01//17/2006 Thanks for a great Holiday Season and welcome to all the new members of the Burman Coffee Family. Just a reminder that we always have and will ship by the next business day. We ship everyday UPS ships.

11/15/2005 We just received this special offer from Hearthware for people who buy an I-Roast after 11/14/2005 (invoice required). 10/28/2005 The new FreshRoast Plus 8's are in the country and should be arriving here within a week or so. We will have plenty for the holidays. These make an excellent gift for the coffee lover on your list. If you want to place a pre-order we will ship them ASAP.

10/25/2005 Normally destined for the Japanese market, this Jamaican Blue Mountain green coffee (Flamstead Estate) is the best scoring Jamaican we have ever had.

10/21/2005 The Bravi, I-Roasts and the Zach & Dani's coffee roasters all include your choice of one of our four outstanding three pound bundles, up to a $15.48 value!

10/07/2005 The first batch of FreshRoast Plus 8's arrived and all pre-orders have been filled.

10/04/2005 The first batch of the new FreshRoast Plus "8" are all sold. They are now in transit to us from California where they have finally cleared customs, we will ship as soon as they arrive. We will be getting the rest of our FreshRoast roasters by the end of October. When we know more and get closer we will start taking pre-orders.

09/22/2005 We have been evaluating the new Swissmar Bravi for about three weeks now and have decided to add it to our line. We have not found a better way to roast 8 ounces. We roasted many batches including our Ethiopian Harrar at setting 9 which is a city roast . A bright cup with good complexity, interesting blueberry fruit top and a dark chocolate bottom. Our Costa Rican we tried at a 11 which was 7 seconds into the second crack, turned out full bodied, rich and balanced. The evenness of the roast and the complexity of the coffee was a significant improvement over the Alpenrost. The use of non-stick coatings on the doors and top should provide trouble free operation over time, with much easier cleaning. The Bravi even expels the coffee into a plastic chamber when done roasting. Clean up is a damp sponge and I recommend a quick vacuum before putting it away. See the home roasting section for further tips.

09/20/2005 We are expecting the new FreshRoast Plus "8" by the end of September. It will have an improved roast chamber, a longer roast time to provide a more balanced roast. It will also provide some voltage regulation to insure more even roasts under different voltage.

09/15/2005 The new I-Roast 2 is in stock. This new roaster allows you to save up to 10 custom roast profiles and has enhanced the roasting curve into five sections instead of three.
Burman Price- $179.95 w/ three free pounds

09/12/2005 We will still be selling the original I-roast, same capacity, same roast time, same great taste.
Great new price! $149.95 /w 3 Free Lbs!

09/10/2005 We have lowered the price of the Zach and Dani's home coffee roaster to $134.50 for the unit w/ three pounds of coffee and $164.50 for the set, which includes the roaster, grinder, and a five coffee sampler. Great American made smokeless roaster.

09/09/2005 We have located some bags of Kauai Reserve and now have it back in stock.

09/09/2005 We have run out of the older FreshRoast Plus's and do not expect to locate any more.

09/08/2005 Here's some links to a couple of interesting articles referring to fresh coffee as the number one source for antioxidants. One from National Geographic and one from Web MD

07/27/2005 We have managed to latch onto a batch of the FreshRoast Plus's. This is the model before the Plus "8"s. The only major difference is this model has a five minute timer. $49.95 for the roaster with free pound. $79.95 for the set while supplies last. They also come with a 6 month warranty from FreshBeans Inc.

07/26/2005 We are now selling our burlap coffee bag at $1.50.
Max 2 per order.

07/11/2005 We have lowered our price for the I-roast to $149.95 and the I-roast set to $179.95.

05/19/2005 We have added a great new coffee. Rwanda Maraba Co-op, similar to a Kenyan coffee. Supports the small farmers and helps stimulate Rwandas economy.

03/09/2005 Check out the new "Pump and Store", I think it is the coolest way I have seen to store your roasted coffee.

03/09/2005 We have dropped the Organic Gayo Mt and replaced with an excellent Bolivian Organic. This is a great balanced sweet coffee with milk chocolate overtones.

03/09/2005 Coffee prices have gone through the roof, and many coffees are in short supply. We are attempting to hold prices were we can and moderate our increases where necessary. We have managed to latch on to two barrels of Blue Mountain. I'm am told they are at sea, which means still a couple of weeks before they land, clear customs and make it to Madison

03/09/2005 Garry and Kathie just returned from a trip to the Malinal communities near Tepic in Nayarit Mexico. We spent 9 days meeting, working and partying with a very dedicated group of people committed to excellent coffee. Also had an amazing boat trip through the bird sanctuary in San Blas. Pictures to follow. Thanks to Jon for holding things together while we were gone.

02/10/2005 We have gone back to our cool java pop ups for our coffee descriptions. If your having trouble viewing them, click the link at the top of the coffee list.

01/31/2005 Check out our new Monthly Coffee Sale page. We have recently found a new batch of two interesting coffees that we want you to try, Indian Mysore Nuggets and Indian Monsooned Malabar. Don't forget to check out our Mexican Malinal and Guatemalan Vista Hermosa, both are a great model representing shade grown, organic coffees with a fair wage paid to the employees.

01/20/2005 We are bringing back the Zach and Dani's home roaster. It comes with three pounds of coffee, choose one of four bundles, only $134.95. 10/15/04 We have changed the format of our coffee list. Our highly discounted two and five pound prices are now more visible. Plus we have dropped the price of some of our coffees.

8/30/04 We have added several excellent new coffees! An award winning Guat called Vista Hermosa, on sale under Specials. The Latest Malinal offerings which now include a washed coffee that is lighter bodied and a little fruitier. Also a new Brazil called Yellow Bourbon. A unique coffee with a ripe yellow cherry instead of red. Our Papua New Guinea is now Kimel Plantation A. And we have a new batch of excellent Yemen Mocha.

4/30/2004 We have a new supplier of burr grinders, DeLonghi. The FreshRoast "8" set is now priced at $99.95 with a burr grinder and 5 coffee sampler, The Freshroast original set at $79.95

4/21/2004 Added a new coffee, Malinal Peaberry as a coffee special.. Excellent for dark roasts and espresso blends. Just a one time purchase so check it out before its gone

4/21/2004 Garry will be at the SCAA conference in Atlanta, April 23-26. Always good to get together with our coffee suppliers/growers and friends.

3/28/2004 We are out of burr grinders and Hearthware can no longer supply them. We are currently evaluating new grinders, but it looks like it will several weeks before we are stocking a new one. This means the roasting sets with grinders are currently unavailable.

3/4/2004 The FreshRoast "8" set is now priced at $99.95 with a burr grinder and 5 coffee sampler, and the roaster at $69.95 with a free pound. The roaster is a great improvement with a very even roast and more balanced roast profile!! This is a great way to start home roasting.

2/4/2004 We have added two new coffees that are a hit, an African Burundi and a Papau New Guinea. Both are excellent.

2/11/2004 The container of FreshRoast Plus "8" roasters was delayed in shipping. They arrived in the US February 6. We will be receiving them by Feb.18th or so. We do have Caffe Rostos and Alpenrosts in stock.

12/11/2003 We have stopped selling the FreshRoast Plus and are now taking pre-orders for the new FreshRoast Plus "8". This roaster will not be here in time for Christmas. We should be caught up on most current backorders by Monday December 15th.

10/21/2003 We just got in a new batch of Malinal! Their production was way down this year, but we managed to get a good supply. Best Natural-D yet (a type of semi-washed that is very eco-friendly). Rich and full with excellent fruity overtones on top. Also got in a new barrel of Jamaica Blue Mountain- Mavis Bank. Another coffee that has been getting better each season.

10/17/2003 Burman Coffee Traders will be demonstrating our roasters and providing a chance to taste several of our coffees at the Madison Food and Wine show Oct 24-26. Garry will be presenting a Home Roasting class at 4:00pm Oct 25.

8/19/2003 All roasters are in stock

8/1/2003 Check out the Nicaraguan Angelina, our latest new coffee offering. A medium roast brings out a mild, almost buttery, white chocolate flavor while a darker roast adds more intensity and turns the chocolate bitter-sweet.

6/17/2003 We are out of stock on Caffe Rostos and have removed them from the shopping cart.

6/12/2003 We are also in the process of switching burr grinders from the white Hearthware Burr grinder, to the black Hearthware Burr Grinder Deluxe, priced at only $29.95

We also have a new Costa Rican, "Cafe Vida" ,and a new Guatamalin Antigua, "San Nicolas", both are similar, but cup several points higher, than the coffees they replace. Enjoy!

6/8/2003 You will now find the Zach and Dani's and FreshRoast Plus roasting sets under specials, and the FreshRoast Original set under equipment. We offer an opportunity to add the grinder to both the Caffe Rosto and Alpenrost at an additional 10% discount when you check out.

6/3/2003 We are returning to fully stocked! We have the Zach and Dani's, the Alpenrost, along with the FreshRoast Plus and FreshRoast in stock. And we just heard the Caffe Rosto has cleared customs and is on the way here. We should be able to ship them June 12-13.

5/5/2003 The Freshroast Plus's have finally cleared customs and should be on their way to us.. We will ship as soon as they arrive.

4/28/03 We have added the Zach and Dani's roaster to our product set. You will find both a roaster set, with burr grinder and sampler under specials, and the roaster, by itself, under equipment. After about a month of evaluation, and a day spent at their Two Rivers, Wisconsin manufacturing site, we feel it is a well engineered product with a good batch size and a unique smoke free design.

5/19/03 We are still experiencing a delay on Caffe Rosto orders. There have been some manufactuing issues and we want to verify all is well before shipping more.

4/18/03 We are sold out of the Freshroast Plus until the end of April. This batch will have an American made roast chamber and slightly higher fan speed. We will ship as soon as they arrive. We still have a good supply of the FreshRoast Original at an excellent price, both make a great first roaster.

2/26/03 We have just selected our new lots of our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Tanzanian Peaberry, and Sumatra. We have found some excellent coffees!

1/27/03 We are sold out of the Alpenrost (I guess our price was too good!), and it looks like there won't be more until late May. We have removed it from the shopping cart until we have some on the way.

We no longer carry the Hearthware Gourmet, as they are running out of parts to support the warranty. We are looking forward to their new roaster.( Hopefully summer)

Great Buy!

We just got in a batch of the original Freshroast roasters. We are offering them at $54.95 w/a free pound of coffee. This is a great gift opportunity for that coffee lover on your list!

New Coffees
We Have just started featuring the Malinal Natural D (for depulped). This method of preparation dramatically reduces pollution to the local streams and water compared to a "washed" coffee. This coffee not only tastes great, you but can see the quality in the roasted beans. They are huge! My suggestion is roast it medium. Check out the Malinal site at www.malinal.com. We will be supporting this project by discounting the price to make it an even greater value.

We have also added Brazil "Beija Flor." this is a great choice for you dark roast and espresso fans, sweet on top with a rich nutty, chocolate bottom.

We are always evaluating new coffees so come back and check the coffee page often.
